ABOUT EMMA

Inspired by queens of cool, Anita O'day and Ella Fitzgerald, Emma Sundvik takes you back in time with her smooth vocals, melodic scatting, and swinging phrasing.
So far in her career, Emma has worked with vocal jazz greats Kurt Elling, Sheila Jordan, Peter Eldridge, Janis Siegel, and Lauren Kinhan and has performed at private and public venues around the globe. Emma was selected to be featured in Janis Siegel and Lauren Kinhan's "Vocal Mania" where she performed alongside the two at the famous NYC Zinc Bar.

Playing trumpet in her high school jazz band, Emma has always loved the sound of big band. She played in numerous in college and it was always a dream of hers to be the featured vocalist in a big band, much like many of her idols. The summer of 2021 brought her her break as she was featured as one of the Modernaires in the Dan Gabel and the Abletones Glenn Miller tour. Emma performed around the historic New England bandstands singing with her friends from college, The Beantones. After those shows, Dan hired Emma solo to perform as the featured vocalist with the Dan Gabel and the Abletones big band.

Emma graduated from Berklee College of Music, studying voice and trumpet. While attending Berklee, she received the Outstanding Jazz Vocalist Award, Berklee Achievement Grant, and Voice Department Achievement Award for her successes.

Emma has always been drawn to group singing, and immersed herself in the vocal jazz scene. She received three Downbeat awards for vocal jazz groups she was in at Berklee —Berklee's Advanced Vocal Jazz Choir and Point of Departure (Berklee's student-run vocal jazz group). Emma can be heard on Point of Departure's debut album, "In Time!"Emma is also a member of the vocal group "Univoz" and during the COVID-19 Lockdown she released videos remotely with her quartet "Time Out Vocal Jazz".

Janis and Lauren premiered the video for Emma's song, "A Prayer", on their virtual show "Vocal Gumbo". Now that video and song can be found on Emma's Youtube channel.
